Invoice Template Quebec — GST + QST, in English or French

A free invoice generator built for Quebec's rules: TPS/TVQ on separate lines at the current rates, both registration numbers, CAD by default, and one-click French output.

The two-tax, two-number, two-language invoice

Quebec invoicing has three quirks the generic templates miss. First, two taxes: 5% GST and 9.975% QST, each calculated on the pre-tax amount — never QST on top of GST, a method dead since 2013. Second, two registration numbers: once registered you carry a GST number and a QST number, and both belong on the invoice. Third, French: under the Charter of the French Language, invoices for Quebec clients must be available in French. The generator above handles all three — pick Quebec, add your numbers once, and toggle EN/FR per client.

What the taxes look like on a $1,000 job

LineAmount
Subtotal$1,000.00
GST (5%)$50.00
QST (9.975%)$99.75
Total$1,149.75

Check any amount — forward or from a tax-included total — with the Quebec sales tax calculator (aussi en français), then create the invoice with the taxes pre-filled.

Self-employed and contractors

Freelancers and self-employed workers follow the standard CRA documentation tiers — see the current $100/$500 rules — plus the QST number once registered. Construction contractors customarily add their RBQ licence number to quotes and invoices; put it in the terms block so it appears on every document. For staged jobs, send a soumission (estimate) first and convert it when approved.

Free, private, unlimited

Like every BolInvoice tool: no account, no watermark, no monthly cap. The PDF is generated on your device and never uploaded; your business block, clients, and invoice numbering are remembered locally. Switch to la version française for the full French experience, or browse the template styles.

Frequently asked questions

What makes a Quebec invoice different?

Two taxes instead of one: GST at 5% and QST at 9.975%, each on its own line and each calculated on the pre-tax amount. Registered Quebec businesses also show two registration numbers — a GST number and a QST number — and often need the invoice available in French.

Does this template calculate GST and QST automatically?

Yes. Pick Quebec as the province and both lines appear at the current rates, computed on the pre-tax amount the way Revenu Québec requires. Totals are always calculated by code — never estimated.

Do I have to invoice Quebec clients in French?

In most cases invoices for Quebec clients must be available in French under the Charter of the French Language, as strengthened by Bill 96. Switch this generator to FR and the entire document becomes a proper facture — Facturer à, Sous-total, TPS/TVQ, Total à payer.

What are the invoice requirements for a self-employed worker in Quebec?

The same CRA tiers as everywhere in Canada — name, date, and total under $100; add your GST number and tax amounts from $100; add client name, terms, and item descriptions from $500 — plus your QST number once registered. Registration for both taxes becomes mandatory past $30,000 of taxable sales over four consecutive quarters.

I'm a contractor in construction — anything extra on my invoices?

Licensed construction contractors in Quebec customarily show their RBQ licence number on quotes and invoices alongside the tax numbers — clients and insurers expect it. Add it in the notes or terms block, e.g. “Licence RBQ : 5678-1234-01.”

Which currency and format should I use?

Canadian dollars, which this generator uses by default with proper formatting in both languages. Date, tax rates, and labels all follow Canadian conventions — not the French TVA/SIRET format that dominates online “facture” templates.

Is this Quebec invoice template free?

Yes — unlimited invoices, estimates, and receipts with no signup and no watermark. The PDF is generated on your own device and never uploaded; your clients, numbering, and business details are remembered locally so the next invoice is faster.
